Target Audience: K-12 administrators, instructional leaders, pre-service teachers and teachers are encouraged to attend.

 Join us for an engaging full-day designed specifically for K-12 teachers, focused on the integration of assessment within Building Thinking Classrooms (BTC). This session will be led by Kyle Webb, an experienced educator and advocate for innovative teaching practices inspired by Peter Liljedahl's research on Building Thinking Classrooms.     This is NOT a repeat of the sessions from last year, so come back out and join us for more learning! 

Session Goals:

  1. Experience New BTC Tasks:

 Immerse yourself in hands-on BTC tasks that you can implement in your own classrooms. These activities are designed to promote critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving among students of all ages.

  1. Ongoing Assessment to Inform Instruction Design:

Explore strategies for continuous assessment that guide instructional decisions. Learn how to use formative assessments to identify student needs, tailor your teaching approaches, and foster a more dynamic and responsive classroom environment.

  1. Assessment for Reporting Marks of Student Learning:

Delve into the crucial aspect of assessment for reporting student learning. This part of the session will be a major focus, providing you with practical tools and methods to accurately evaluate and report student progress and achievements. Understand how to align assessment practices with learning objectives and ensure that your grading reflects true student understanding and growth.
