Goals for the Session:
- Experience New BTC Tasks: Engage in new Building Thinking Classrooms (BTC) tasks designed to enhance student engagement and deep learning, providing teachers with fresh activities to implement in their own classrooms.
- Learn About Consolidation: Deepen understanding of the consolidation phase of the lesson, where students synthesize and reflect on their learning, ensuring that key concepts are solidified.
- Master Teacher Micro Moves: Identify and practice essential micro moves—small yet impactful teacher actions—that are critical for fostering a thinking classroom environment.
- Develop Ongoing Assessment Strategies: Explore effective methods for ongoing assessment to gauge student understanding and inform instructional decisions. Including ideas for Observation, Conversations, and Products.

Building on Peter Liljedahl’s research on Building Thinking Classrooms, this full-day workshop is designed to deepen K-12 teachers' understanding and implementation of BTC strategies. Kyle Webb, a seasoned educator and expert in BTC, will guide participants through a hands-on, interactive experience aimed at enhancing their instructional practices. Ongoing assessment tips and ideas will be embedded and explicitly mentioned throughout the day.
