Target audience: K-6 instructional leaders, pre-service teachers and teachers are encouraged to attend.

Are you teaching a combined class this year?  This Combined Grade Planning and Collaboration Cohort will connect educators who are teaching similar grade levels in order to share ideas, resources and challenges.   The idea is to walk away from this cohort series with practical and ready to go math resources while also increasing your network of support.

This series is intended for newcomers to the Math Combined Grade Planning and Collaboration K–6 Cohort.   If you joined us this past year, please watch for a NEW winter series - Next Steps with Combined Grade Classes .

October 1, 2024:

Teachers often talk about the need for time to think, talk with each other and create something practical.  Well, October 1 is just that.   We have a dedicated day to focus on crafting combined year plans. Thorough planning is pivotal, and investing time in closely examining and aligning the curricula for the 2 (or more) grade levels you teach can significantly enhance your instructional efficiency and effectiveness. During this session, we will explore strategies for examining, comparing, and aligning math curricula, providing you time to develop or refine your individual year plans either independently or collaboratively. Coaches have also engaged in this process to bolster their confidence in supporting teachers.

Our full day together will include a blend of learning, conversations, and working time either on or off line with your choice of working individually or with another cohort member.

November 5, 2024:

Upon hearing educator feedback and requests related to math class, we gathered insights from 8 different combined-grade teachers on the topics identified as being of interest, including:

  • Differentiation
  • Planning and Assessment
  • Classroom Logistics and Structures
  • Aligning Curriculum

November 5th will include time to view the video segments of your choice from the 68 concise segments, time to debrief and discuss the strategies, resources and ideas shared in the video, and time to add practical ideas to your own year plan.

December 3rd, 2024:

We will gather together for 90 minutes to share with each other about success and challenges and next steps.

Get ready to engage, communicate and collaborate throughout this series.
