AUDIENCE: Teachers, Inclusion Teachers, Inclusion Leaders and Administrators
At the end of Level B sessions, participants will receive a certificate of completion. Participants must attend all 3 days of training to receive a certificate.
Four major topics to be covered in these 3 day training sessions include:
1. The three levels of testing and how they differ.
2. The role of each level in educational assessment.
3. The principles of standardized testing:
- Provincial, national and international standards
- Ethical test selection and use
- Understanding measurement statistics
- Understanding T-scores, z-scores, percentile rank equivalents, age equivalents
- How to compare standard scores
- Interpreting test scores to parents, teachers and children
4. Pragmatic issues in test administration:
- Choosing standardized tests
- Establishing basals and ceilings
- Scoring standardized tests with precision
- Meeting District and Alberta Education guidelines
About the Presenter(s)
Dr. Dave Carter
has been an educator for more than 40 years, having worked as a grade 6 and 7 teacher, a learning assistance teacher (grades K - 7), a school psychologist (grades K - 12), a Director of Instruction in two large B.C. school districts, and an instructor at UBC, SFU, Trinity Western and San Diego State University. Dave “semi-retired” in 2005 and continues to teach courses at the graduate level, does in-service in both Alberta and B.C. and consults to the B.C. Ministry of Education on a range of topics (including special education and ELL). He and his wife Sharon have four grown children and two grandchildren.Registration Deadline: April 06, 2021
