In this session, First Nations, Métis, and Inuit: Learning from Story will highlight the concept of
the Writing Framework, which presents the significant use of language and literacy based
learning to teach students to use effective writing skills. The sharing of trickster/truth stories
and various writing strategies will demonstrate the importance of understanding what the text
says, does and means. Language based activities will scaffold the Writing Framework and an
Indigenous Literature Kit will provide lessons and stories to use within your classroom.
