Learning Opportunities

We are living in an age of incredible complexity. Organizations from across diverse sectors including education, business, government, and the trades, are challenging themselves to re-imagine their learning cultures. Leadership to Power Potential and Possibility is a 4 part series that will lead participants on a personal exploration of their role in leadership, and the competencies required to support positive learning experiences for all students within the shifting educational landscape of our Alberta schools. Join us to understand how this journey is strengthened when we use different and new metaphors for leadership upon which we are able to foster powerful learning in our schools and school authorities.

Research from the fields of neuroscience, psychology and learning are providing a glimpse into the compelling potential that lies within every individual, and group of individuals - and the understanding that under the correct conditions, creativity and learning flourish. So what are those conditions?

We invite you to join Peter Gamwell, retired Superintendent of the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board and co-author of The Wonder Wall, for a reflective journey in leadership where participants will come to understand the essential conditions for leading creative schools in the age of complexity. This personal exploration of inquiry will begin on May 1, 2018, with a full day dedicated to building participants’ understandings of a new leadership paradigm.

As we move into the 2018-2019 school year, the Leadership to Power Potential and Possibility learning series will continue with opportunities for participants to delve more deeply into the creation of a culture of engagement and belonging through effective leadership at all levels as a means to drive change and foster the kind of learning environments where creativity thrives. Dates for the continuation of this learning series are: October 16, 2018; December 4, 2018; April 2, 2019.

To maximize participants’ ability to lead in times of complexity, all participants are strongly encouraged to register for all parts of this learning series with Peter Gamwell. Registration for the fall learning sessions will be opening soon.
