TARGET AUDIENCE: ALL CLASSROOM TEACHERS (K-12), EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANTS, LEARNING COACHES AND LEARNING LEADERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND
What is a learning disability? How is it defined? How is ADHD different from a learning disability? This workshop covers the definition of learning disabilities as well ADHD followed by how LD and ADHD affect a student’s performance in the classroom. The second half of the workshop will be comprised of discovery time and small group discussion of the best strategies and techniques to support your students with LD and/or ADHD. Suitable for educators teaching Kindergarten through to Highschool.

Kim Tackaberryis a Designer of Professional Learning with the Calgary Regional Consortium, areas of focus include literacy and inclusive education. Her teaching career spans over 28 years, ten as a classroom teacher at Foothills Academy Society, a school specializing in children with Learning Disabilities and ADHD. After a decade of classroom experience, Kim's role as Professional Development and Parent Education Manager included supporting teachers through the development of over twelve on-line workshops for educators, support staff and parents. Kim is passionate about supporting teachers when their students are struggling with learning how to read. Apart from the Founder, Dr Rick Freeze, she is the sole Precision Reading presenter in North America.
