TARGET AUDIENCE: ALL CLASSROOM TEACHERS (K-12), EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANTS, LEARNING COACHES AND LEARNING LEADERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND
What is a learning disability? How is it defined? How is ADHD different from a learning disability? This workshop covers the definition of learning disabilities as well ADHD followed by how LD and ADHD affect a student’s performance in the classroom. The second half of the workshop will be comprised of discovery time and small group discussion of the best strategies and techniques to support your students with LD and/or ADHD. Suitable for educators teaching Kindergarten through to Highschool.
This learning opportunity is being offered through curriculum implementation funding from Alberta Education.
Kim Tackaberry is currently a Designer of Professional Learning with the Calgary Regional Consortium. Her teaching career expands over twenty five years, ten of which teaching Junior High students at Foothills Academy Society, a centre for children with Learning Disabilities and ADHD. Following her specific work supporting students with diverse learning needs, Kim was a learning leader in a community services role as Professional Development and Parent Education Manager. Kim has designed and moderated over twelve on-line workshops for educators, support staff and parents to better meet their busy lifestyles . Her passion for supporting struggling readers inspired her to be the sole Precision Reading presenter in North America (with exception of Founder, Dr Rick Freeze).
