TARGET AUDIENCE: THIS SERIES IS FOR EDUCATORS WHO ARE NEW TO DESIGN THINKING

Session 1: Introduction to Design Thinking in Education

In this  interactive webinar, we will:

  • Explore the research and theory behind design thinking as a discipline and as it applies to teaching and learning
  • Hear stories of how teachers have used design thinking to solve organizational challenges, as an approach to task design, and as a method of inquiry for students to address issues of real concern
  • Connect design thinking with the curriculum and cross-curricular competencies

Session 2: Developing Deep Empathy

In this  interactive webinar, we will:

  • Experience part of the design thinking process, focusing on empathy
  • Engage in problem-finding within your own teaching context
  • Gain competence and confidence in interviewing for empathy

Session 3: From Ideation to Prototyping

In this  interactive webinar, we will:

  • Experience part of the design thinking process, focusing on defining, ideation, and prototyping
  • Share and interpret the findings from the interview for empathy
  • Define the problem to be addressed
  • Ideate solutions collaboratively
  • Prototype a solution to the problem
