What the heck are LOOSE PARTS and why should I use them in my classroom? This session will explore the engaging possibilities of open-ended, everyday materials to ignite students’ imagination, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.

  • Using provocations from the Alberta Curriculum, you will participate in hands-on activities and come away with ideas for using loose parts for assessing prior knowledge/introducing topics, deepening understanding and assessment in your classroom.
  • You will also get ideas on how to curate and store loose parts.

There will be time to reflect and discuss with others on how to use loose parts in your classroom and plan for an upcoming topic or unit. Come ready to explore and play!
