Target Audience: Gr 10-12 teachers, educational assistants and administrators are encouraged to attend.

As our Grade 12 students get back into the swing of writing diploma exams, how can we best prepare them for this assessment? Join us for a conversation about common student needs heading into the final weeks of English 30-1 and 30-2 and a sharing session of resources to support them as they prepare to write the written and reading portions of the exam. If you have a favorite resource, please bring it to share! We will bring tools, tricks and strategies to share as well.

Charlie Kraig

Charlie Kraig is a some times Designer of Professional Learning for Learning Network Educational Services and most times a mom to two boys. With a background in literacy instruction, inclusive supports, and instructional leadership, she enjoys supporting educators throughout Alberta in whichever way is most helpful. She believes that the role of education is to contribute to the development of deep thinking, compassionate humans.

Jodi Taylor

is an Inclusion Support Teacher at Foundations for the Future Charter Academy as well as a contract Designer of Professional Learning for Calgary Regional Consortium. She has been in the classroom at the middle school and high school levels for over 20 years, primarily as a Humanities teacher.

Jodi brings the belief to all the work she engages in that there is no one size fits all when it comes to learning. Supporting literacy and inclusive education, Jodi strives to:

Inspire a love of literacy for all students.
Embrace diversity in the learning profiles and personalities of the teachers she works with and the students they support.
Make collaborations with educators practical and classroom focused by inviting conversations that make thinking visible. This includes strategies that allow entry points and opportunities for growth for every learner.

Tannis Niziol

Tannis is currently supporting Alberta teachers as a Professional Learning Facilitator with the Edmonton Regional Learning Consortium. She recently served as a curriculum consultant for the Edmonton Catholic School Division. Throughout her 30-year career as an educator, in both Edmonton and Winnipeg, Tannis remains passionate about teaching and learning, and the need for explicit literacy apprenticeship at all levels in all subject areas. Tannis is a voracious reader who believes all students deserve access to rich, diverse reading experiences and to a safe equitable space to talk about what they see, hear, think and feel. She is on a journey to disrupt and bring clarity to the conversations that drive our planning and assessment practice.
