Target Audience: Kindergarten teachers, parents, administrators and partners are encouraged to attend.

We invite you to spend some time with Junior Achievement to find out more about the current JA programs and learn how they can support you with your financial literacy outcomes. In kindergarten, “students will explore the value of Canadian coins and bills” (Alberta Education)  and our JA Ourselves module can help.  We also welcome your thoughts about how JA might extend their offerings to assist you in your important work. Imagine what we will be able to accomplish together!

Alberta Education Curriculum Connections

Financial literacy has been identified by Alberta Education as one of the tangible skills to serve students in their personal lives and careers. Students will learn how money works. The curriculum will teach students how to earn, save, invest, spend, share and borrow money. For the first time, as part of the Practical Skills component in the K-6 Programs of Study,  financial literacy will be woven throughout the curriculum, and specifically taught in mathematics and physical education and wellness.  Students will learn, in age-appropriate ways, that money has value and allows them to purchase things they need or want.

About Junior Achievement of Southern Alberta

Junior Achievement is the link between education and the business world, giving youth the confidence and knowledge they need to define personal success, enhance their workforce readiness and pursue their dreams and aspirations.

The JA Southern Alberta charter was launched in 1960 as Junior Achievement, and is a member of JA Canada. We have grown into an organization that operates through 6 offices across southern Alberta; our goal is to reach 50 000 students, K to 12 this year and we are well on our way.
