Join writing teacher, professional learning facilitator, and author Angela Stockman for a guided discussion of her newly released book, Creating Inclusive Writing Environments in the K-12 Classroom: Reluctance, Resistance, and Strategies that Make a Difference. This no-homework book study will inform those who have not yet begun reading while deepening the thinking, learning, and work of those that have and those that are applying their new learning as well. Please bring your questions and prepare to explore new ones -- relevant to these topics -- together:

  • Disrupting common narratives about reluctant and resistant writers - especially now that we're often trying to reach writers remotely
  • Centering writers in our face-to-face and virtual writing workshops and classrooms
  • Designing agile lessons and units that include all writers and enable teachers to pivot between environments easily

All participants will also be welcomed into Angela's digital learning space, where she has crafted complete "plug in and play" digital writing units for K-12 writers, which may be used, adapted, and shared at no cost. Angela will provide an overivew of these units and help everyone learn how to access and use them in varied ways during these sessions. If you have no time to plan, this is one solution that many have been grateful for. Instructional coaches who are interested in this work may also use these units and the lessons within them for professional learning purposes as well.
