About the Session

TARGET AUDIENCE: GRADES 7-12 EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANTS ARE ENCOURAGE TO ATTEND

Taking a positive behaviour approach to student supports facilitates academic achievement and healthy social development of students in a safe, supportive learning environment. With this approach, Educational Assistants can positively affect how students behave and interact with one another.  Join this after school conversation on promoting positive behaviour and inclusion in the classroom

Together, we will learn strategies and ideas that support students in the classroom, including how to:

  • promote appropriate behaviour in a positive way
  • help students self-regulate
  • support students in their regulation by also regulating ourselves
  • support students in understanding how appropriate behaviours can improve sense of belonging for all
About the Presenter(s)

Crystal Pelletier is a Designer of Professional Learning with the Calgary Regional Consortium.  In this role, she has supported the Education for Reconciliation gatherings and Inclusive Education professional learning. Crystal also leads undergraduate Bachelor of Education courses on Inclusion at local Universities. Previous to this, she spent over 17 years as a Teacher, Inclusive Education Planning Tool (IEPT) Pilot coach, and then Instructional Coach with Fort McMurray Catholic School Division. Crystal believes that we can support all learners and craft learning opportunities that build in choice and trust every step of the way.
