Join us for this self-paced exploration through resources and experiences designed to support your journey in unpacking how to provide instruction that develops conceptual understanding in students. Consider theoretical foundations, practical application and strategic assessment processes that help students to develop competencies, make meaningful connections between knowledge and the application of skills, and engage authentically with significant ideas within our complex world.
Cheryl Babinis a consulting member of the Calgary Regional Consortium team. With experience in public, international and independent schools as an educator, experiential learning director, instructional coach and consultant, Cheryl designs and facilitates online and face to face professional development sessions about teaching for conceptual understanding. She currently holds a role as an International Baccalaureate Programme Coordinator and workshop leader. Cheryl supported pre-service teachers as a sessional instructor for B. Ed. students at St. Mary's University in Calgary. Specific areas of interest and experience include designing learning through a pedagogy of inquiry, concept based curriculum and instruction, student engaged assessment, and the development of international-mindedness and global perspectives.

This self-paced course will be open from January 21st - February 28th, 2020. To receive a certificate of completion, participants must complete course work during this time frame. Sorry, no extensions will be provided.
