TARGET AUDIENCE: GRADE 7-12 SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS, DISTRICT LEADS, TEACHERS, AND EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND

In this session; Learning from Land, Metis Knowledge Keeper, Bruce McKay, will highlight teachings of land use and sustainability.  This workshop will provide a strong insight and teachings of experiential Elder led classes in traditional hunting, trapping, fishing, medicinal plant harvesting, and will provide strategies of how to involve the community and school in land reclamation and sustainability.  Bruce will present a Project Based Learning model for classroom teachers, with an Indigenous perspective of Learning from Land, to empower and demonstrate learning outcomes as it relates to Indigenous ways of knowing.  

 

This learning opportunity is being offered through curriculum implementation funding from Alberta Education.
