TARGET AUDIENCE: GRADES 3-8 CLASSROOM TEACHERS AND LEARNING COACHES ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND

Ask any student who is struggling with comprehension, particularly students with learning disabilities as well as English Language Learners, whether they make movies in their minds while they read. Many do not.  Lindamood-Bell’s research supports that activitating both the verbal and visual parts of the brain together is the best way of  increasing a students’ s level of reading comprehension. Visualization can be taught. This workshop will focus on the steps to teaching students how to visualize. This technique will support English Language Learners in building word and passage comprehension. Participants will practice in the visualization stages using sample objectives from Alberta Education’s Program of Study. All stages are transferrable to grades 3-8.

This learning opportunity is being offered through curriculum implementation funding from Alberta Education.
