Myriam LeMay
has developed an innovative teaching method in corrective pronunciation of French as well pedagogical materials for the French classroom. The aim of her work is to present teachers of French with a variety of techniques that will enable them not only to correct their students’ pronunciation, but also help these students understand how French sounds are produced so that they can attain self-correction. These techniques are of great benefit to all students of French, whether enrolled in FSL, French Immersion, or Programme cadre. Myriam is invited to present her workshops to educators throughout Canada. She completed her M.A. in French Linguistics at the University of British Columbia and has been teaching French as a First and Second Language for over 25 years. Every July, she teaches in the “Institut de français, UBC à Québec” French Immersion Program where she shares her expertise in Corrective Phonetics with the participating French teachers. Myriam presently teaches FSL and AP French Language and Culture at York House School, in Vancouver.
